About

In an area where political unrest is the norm Chile stands out as being the most politically stable country in all of South America.  This wasn’t always the case and the largely successful democracy that Chile enjoys now was hard fought.

Throughout the 70’s, 80’s and even into the 90’s the political situation in Chile wasn’t exactly a model of democracy, rather there was rampant corruption and military rule.  Basic human rights were ignored and the dictatorship under Pinochet wasn’t pleasant for the average Chilean.

On the Chilean Politics Blog we discuss both the current and past political situation in Chile and how Chile made the transition to democracy.  Chile can stand as an example to other South American nations.
